This book assumes no knowledge of the persian language, it starts from the beginning and is intended for those students with sufficient time and skill to learn the persian script. for those who wish merely to obtain a spoken knowledge of the language, and are not desirous of acquiring a knowledge of the script, c. l. hawker's SIMPLE COLLOQUIAL PERSIAN is recommended.

it is hoped that in this third edition the mistakes, chiefly in transliteration, made in the previous editions, due largely to proof-reading difficulties during the last war, will be eliminated, as MR. R. pech of london university has spent considerable time on correction work. thanks are very due to him for the great care that he has taken.
